The goal of the American Passenger Rail Heritage Foundation (APRHF) is to build in La Plata, Missouri, an 80,000 square foot museum devoted to the American history of passenger rail. Other aspects of railroad history will also be featured. Additional educational aspects proposed by the APRHF include a museum of Missouri heritage and a pavilion of clean energy generation, especially in how each of these relates to the history and future of passenger rail travel.
